We are open minded and like to change as the demands are made by the public, however, we love to design rings that are not at all in vogue at the current time to toss at the market.

Sterling Silver is a wonderful metal to work with and we have been Silversmiths for over 37 years here in Durango Colorado. We usually start with the stones or stones we are going to use, group them together and vision a design that is fitting for that particular ring to be made. Next we put a silver bezel around the stone and maybe follow that with twisted wire that looks like rope or beaded wire or even put a combination of both. Next, we add third design to complete an overall unusual - one of a kind piece. From there, we add flux and heat the entire piece up with a torch to nearly red hot - at this time we solder all of the designs on a table which is made of silver sheet. Now, we cut out the design and file it until it is nearly perfect. Next we mark the ring and apply the ring shank that we had made especially for the ring. Once this is complete we put the ring in an hot acid bath to clean the metal of all impurities.

Now comes the fun part, finishing. The ring must go through to buffing processes - the cut down stage and then the polishing. Next, the stone or stones are set into the piece and the piece is given a final polish. That's it - That's how rings are made at Durango Silver Company.
